Snowblowers remained basically the same over the years. One of the main changes includes the availability of electric models. Such snowblowers are plug-in machines, are smaller, lighter and easier to use than has snowblowers. However, they are not suitable for everyone.

They are powered by electricity and are a common choice for many people, as there is no need to worry about oil change and gas. Electric snowblowers easily start with a simple button, are extremely quite and are highly maneuverable.
As it presents so many benefits, electric snowblowers are quite popular and are specially preferred by older people and those without any mechanical inclinations. The cheapest electric snowblower can be purchased for a $100. Keep in mind, however, that these machines have certain restrictions.

To start with, they are not as powerful and efficient as the conventional snowblowers. They are to be used mainly for porches, smaller walkways and driveways and are unable to handle considerable amount of snows at one time. A gas blower can handle about two feet of snow at once, while an electric one about six inches.

The extension cord also brings restrictions to its power, as it limits the machine’s maneuver space. A gas snowblower has no such limitations. The power of the electric snowblower can be extended with the purchase of an additional extension cord. Make sure you not run over the cord.

Experts generally recommend the purchase of an electric snowblower for people who don’t need to clear a larger area or they live in an area with little snow. There is no reason to buy a sturdy gas snowblower if you need to clear a small sidewalk or if you have small amounts of snow in winter.

An electric snowblower could still be a good idea even you get heavy snowfalls or a bigger driveway. It is simply a great machine to have around the house. You can use the gas snowblower to clean off the large driveway and use the electric one for the sidewalk or the porch. It is not always easy and convenient to move around with a large snowblower, especially if the house has a lot of crevices and corners.

One of the best improvements in terms of snowblowers is definitely the electric model. Because of its ease in use, small size and minimal maintenance it is the perfect tool for simple, undemanding jobs. On the other hand, bigger driveways and harsh winters with a lot of snow certainly ask for a more powerful gas snowblower.
